Tanya moved back to Niagara Falls from Atlanta 21 years ago, after having a career as a dancer, getting married, having a baby, becoming separated and finally divorced.
Tanya, then 30, had no job and a 1-year-old child to raise. Sitting in her parents home, she remembers thinking that life couldnt get more bleak. Then she saw the ad for beauty school.
It wasnt all smooth sailing. In the middle of the course, I thought, Oh my God, I dont know if I can enjoy standing behind a chair and cutting hair all day.
As part of beauty school, Tanya had to give a fellow student a facial. Her future as an aesthetician suddenly became clear. She hasnt had a bad day of work since.
After an apprenticeship at a residential spa in Niagara Falls, Tanya moved to Delaware and started TLT Skincare Inc. She operated the Day Spa at Nicholas-Anthony Salon in Wilmington. DaySpa by Tanya opened in April 1997.
