Hays Day Spa
Rock Haven is located on twenty-five acres of property originally purchased in 1890, by Russian immigrant Paul Dinges. This unique solid limestone barn, is located along the Smoky Hill River. The barn was used for cattle shelter, milking of cows and hay storage. In the later half of the 20th century, Rock Haven was a controversial rock-and-roll nightclub, catering to large bands such as Baby, Kansas, The Red Dog, Asleep At The Wheel, Flash Cadillac, and the Holding Company. In the late 1970's the club was sold to a group of Mennonites from the Buhler, Kansas area. In 1980 the property was re-purchased by the Dinges family and then used for storage until February 1998, when Dwight and Dereama Allenbaugh began restoration. This beautiful hand built barn has endured a tornado, and two fires, the last which was devastating on October 2, 2002. Once again like the Phoenix rising from the ashes Rock Haven has been beautifully restored in the tradition of spas, dating back to the Greek and Roman eras. A social place to relax and reconnect. Filled with original works of art to inspire and delight the senses. These fossilized limestone walls exude a life giving force, a safe haven to guard, protect, and nourish the soul.
