The original structure of the Lakeshore Inn was built in 1767 by Rockland's first settlers, the Tolman family. It is reported to be one of the first buildings constructed in the town and has undergone several cycles of additions and renovations.
Dodges Mountain (called Madambettox by the Penobscot Indians) is a haven for wildlife.
